Get ready for a getaway filled with flavor, nature, and magical moments. This time, our adventure led us to discover the hidden treasures of Salcedo and its surroundings, an experience that will undoubtedly be etched in our memories.

Day 1: Traditional Flavors and the Serenity of the Lagoon
Our journey began with a mandatory stop in the heart of Salcedo: its central park. A vibrant place where local life pulsates with energy. And, of course, our first mission was to surrender to the temptation of the famous Helados de Salcedo de Jijón (Jijón Ice Creams of Salcedo). Each layer of fruity flavor is an explosion of tradition on the palate, a true icon of this canton, a family tradition since 1956. In addition to enjoying these delicious ice creams, we stocked up on a good supply of the traditional pinol, to prepare traditional drinks that comfort our soul and transport us to the roots of Ecuadorian culture.

With the sweet taste in our mouths and the pinol ready to accompany us, we set course for our next destination. Lunchtime found us at Parrilladas La Española (La Española Grills), where we recharged our batteries with a feast of grilled flavors, the perfect preamble before immersing ourselves in the tranquility of the Yambo Lagoon.
Arriving at the lagoon is like encountering a landscape that calms the spirit. Its waters, surrounded by nature, invite disconnection. We strolled along its shores, breathing in the pure air and marveling at the view. The highlight of the afternoon was a relaxing boat ride that allowed us to appreciate the immensity and beauty of the lagoon from another perspective. Every corner of this place has a special energy.
As evening fell, we headed to our home for the night: Hawkay Glamping. We stayed in their superior ecological rooms, a concept that combines comfort with respect for the environment, offering a unique accommodation experience in harmony with nature.

The night arrived with a delicious dinner at Balcón de Yambo (Yambo Balcony), a place with a privileged view of the lagoon which, illuminated by the moon, becomes even more magical. To end this spectacular day with a flourish, we enjoyed outdoor cinema under a blanket of stars and shared stories around a warm campfire.
Day 2: Connection with Nature and Adventure on the Water
The second day dawned peacefully at Hawkay Glamping. After a delicious breakfast overlooking the lagoon, we prepared for a morning of deep connection with the surroundings. We went for a hike through Yambo Loma, an ideal place to enjoy the silence, observe the landscape, and capture the sounds that nature offered us. The adventure continued on the lagoon, where we swapped the boat for a kayak. Paddling at our own pace on the calm waters of Yambo was a liberating experience, an active way to feel the peace of the place.
With our appetites worked up after the physical activity, we enjoyed a well-deserved lunch at the restaurant on the edge of the lagoon. We decided to add one last gem to our experience: a trip to the Yambo Monorail. This venture allows us to ride the train tracks and enjoy a unique and exciting perspective of the lagoon and its surroundings, a perfect finishing touch to our adventure. After this last panoramic view, we headed home in the afternoon, taking with us the renewed energy of Yambo and the sweet memories of Salcedo.

This getaway to the Yambo Lagoon was a perfect combination of tradition, nature, adventure, and relaxation. A reminder of the beauty that our country holds in every corner.
Until the next adventure!
